Only in Portland! I had a bunch of Iris I dug up from around our foundation last spring. I put them in a black plastic garbage bag, intending on dropping them off at a co-worker's house. I forgot about them and this spring, found the bag again. I was pretty sure it would be a pulpy, rotten mess. Nope...they were alive and growing. Gotta love tenacity like that ;-)
Out, Out, damned Iris! Sorry, but this evil beauty is on the invasives list, and we broke two shovels digging it out of our last garden (still it persists), and yes, it will grow anywhere.
Wonderful! If only we could get more irises growing in such places!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome... I love when pretty plants colonize ugly places.

ReplyDeleteHow funny. It amazes me how plants will grow in the strangest places.
